Dang Drought

Lake Livingston is down 4 1/2 feet.

My friend Connie at Broken Arrow Lodge & Marina says there’s 6″ of water under their pier, and Pat’s been busy digging out the boat ramp.

Lake Livingston hasn’t been hit as hard as some Texas lakes though.  I’ve seen countless boats hanging high and dry on Lake Palestine; Marinas everywhere have been forced to shut down; and Cedar Creek Reservoirs’ Bird Island isn’t, anymore.

Happily, Broken Arrow Lodge & Marina is still open and their cabins and john boats are still available for rent.   As this drought continues, I wonder if those john boats might be the best way to get to the fish on Lake Livingston.

Connie also told me they were starting their Fall/Winter specials, and one of them is a free boat rental with cabin rental.
